PERFECT FOR GRADES 1-4,
I bought this book to help round out my son’s intro to Australia in social studies. This book was the best one I found. It provided comprehensive information in an easy to read format. Others books for young readers were too simple for his grade level (3rd Grade).
This book was filled with more information then photos although plenty of pictures accompany text. While a few books Australia (Country Explorers) contained details like Captain Cook claimed Australia for Great Britain in 1770, this book goes into more detail chronicling first the Spanish, then Dutch explorers before Cook claimed it for his country.
I am not sure why another reviewer would rate this 3 stars and complain that it was a kids book when the info provided clearly states it is for ages 9-12. This book is perfect for its intended audience.
The last pages of this book include fast facts and recommended books and online sites. It provided the best website references although the 2000 Olympic game references were outdated. I highly recommend this book for the lower grades. My son loved reading it and learned a lot from it.

I thought this was a larger book for adults, but when I received it great for kids learning about Australia.
